Multibed

NOTE – These sessions are only available to patients who have had a 1-1 initial consultation or a video consultation to assess their full medical history to plan the most effective treatments to support them.
How it works
This is the traditional set up for the practice of Chinese Medicine in hospitals throughout China. It is a larger space where several people are treated in the same room.
This means people are able to access sessions with the practitioner for cheaper and more often, depending on their symptoms. The main compromises are privacy and the actual face time with the practitioner, although they are always in attendance and ready to support you talking time is reduced. The benefits are that the treatment will continue whilst you relax on the bed. This is why the multibed system developed as the primary way of having treatments in China.
The energy of the multibed is different to a 1-1 session, and some people even prefer it, being left to relax on the bed in their own space whilst also benefiting from being looked after from a distance.
As a mode of treatment Multibeds are becoming more popular. By providing acupuncture in this way, it keep costs low and reduces the price for each patient. Lower cost treatments means that patients can access sessions leading to better quality of life and long lasting results for health and wellbeing.

What is a Multibed clinic
Depending on where you are in the UK Acupuncture is usually practised on a 1-1 basis costing anything from £55 -£200. Whilst some people can afford this and can prefer the singular attention whilst working on a specific problem, the majority would struggle to pay for regular treatment; placing acupuncture out of reach as a healthcare option.
A multibed, or community clinic enables practitioners to treat a number of patients at the same time, thereby reducing the cost to the patient. This healthcare system can offer a multi aspect service because acupuncture needles can be left in to continue to do their work. This means the practitioner can leave them to relax into their treatment and then move on to another patient.
In our clinic we have 3-4 couches set up in the ground floor gym of the Chiltern’s Neuro Center. Soothing music will be playing quietly to maintain some privacy. Patients are also encouraged to bring in headphones if they want to listen to their own music.
During a session, you will have a short consultation time, a pulse and tongue diagnosis will still be taken and palpation of points may be undertaken. The practitioner will insert acupuncture needles which are left in place for 20-40 minutes, allowing the patient to relax whilst the practitioner moves on to another patient.
